Mistress at the Movies: Zombieland
I’m a horror junkie, but one of my favorite ways to kick off the Halloween season is by watching an excellent zany, dark comedy/horror spoof: Zombieland. If you haven’t seen it, what are you waiting for? This year, James and I had an early costume party and watched it with friends, complete with zombie punch, deluxe caramel corn and caramel apples, some chips and dip, and of course–twinkies 😉 –Those of you who have already watched the epicness that is Zombieland know exactly what I’m talking about.
Tongue-in-cheek, Satirical, Slapstick & Smart, with stand-out performances from the leads, Zombieland is a gore & laughter fueled send-up to anyone who’s a fan of the zombie genre, or pitch-black comedies. It’s part post-apocalyptic survival film, road trip buddy movie, and coming of age story; with blood-splattered panache, memorable characters, coated in a slick, witty package that never takes itself too seriously. For a fun and entertaining break from slasher flicks, creature features, and unnerving psycholigcal horror, while still in keeping with the Season, it’s hard to beat Zombieland.
Here’s the recipe for Zombie Punch:
2 2L Chilled bottles of Ginger Ale (Or Sprite/7 Up if you want it even sweeter)
1 carton Lime Sherbert, softened
1 can crushed pineapple
1 can pineapple segments (the little triangular shaped pieces)
–put the soda in a big punch bowl, adding large scoops of the Lime sherbert until the carton is empty, then add both cans of pineapple (juice too), and give it a quick stir before serving. It’ll be foaming, almost radioactive green, and really quite tasty 😉
